40 Days Without “If”

Morning, lovebugs!

I trust you all had a lovely Valentine’s Day. I personally spent mine enjoying some Mumford and Sons up close and personal at the Patriot Center over at George Mason University (and wearing one of my new Stitch Fix goodies!). image

Me and Mumford and Sons are thisclose, obviously.

Anyyyyyways! Upon request, I thought I’d use today to elaborate on my Lenten promise a teensy bit more.

Like I mentioned Wednesday, I decided the best thing I could do for the 4o days of Lent, in all honesty, would be to ban the word “if.”IF

Seriously. No more “What if?”-ing things.

No more pondering what could be or could have been. No more waiting to see IF this or that will happen, or he/she thinks one thing or another.

You know what I mean. We all fall in that trap. The ”If I had ____, then…” or “If we were still _____, then…,”  and etc.

NO MAS.

(Let me save you a Google search – that’s Spanish for “no more.”)

I mean, I don’t have a lot of if’s in my head all the livelong time, but still…. Sometimes you just need to get centered. Not living in the present is a waste of energy. It really is, folks. So, for the next 40 days, I’m committed to living in the now and staying focused on the way things are right this second, and what can make me a better person for tomorrow.

Does that make sense?

I want to put a kabash on allowing my mind or heart – even for a second – to wander into that no man’s land of wasted potential and “if only this had happened” type thoughts. I’m all about action, and working with what you’ve got, now. I mean, you guys,  I’m the “Ra, ra, ra, reach for the stars!” cheerleader believing we can make all of our wildest dreams come true, BUT I also don’t believe in squatting {even a tiny bit} in the past.

You have to deal with the now.

And that, my friends, is what no “if’s” will get ya. (I hope.) ;-)

And now me and my purple bridesmaid dress are off to celebrate the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends in NYC!

Anyone else want to join the “no more IF” movement for the next 40 days?

I LOVE this idea & can’t wait to hear about your success with it! Living in the now is so hard, but it really is the only way to live a productive, fulfilling life. :)

I am starting to become a Mumford & Sons fan after that great performance on the Grammy’s. We already owned one of their albums, but I was super impressed with their live performance.

I’m so glad you talk about the positive side of lent. People only want to talk about what they are going to give up, but it’s really supposed to be a time of reflection and self discovery/ improvement.
Btw, I had a purple bridesmaid dress too:) have fun!

I LOVE this! I have struggled with this exact idea for many years. I feel like my best years of living almost every single day in the NOW, was last year and this year. You gotta just do it….and it really does feel great! Thanks for sharing!
