So I was recently contacted by someone over at MESP Lifestyle Sports Marketing, Kelsey, who is supporting the Merrell Down & Dirty Obstacle Race coming this July to the D.C. area. The race sounded like a blast, so I wanted to share some of the details with you guys, as I imagine many of my local readers may want to sign up!
Presented by Subaru, Down and Dirty is an obstacle race with both a 5K and 10K distance options, featuring muddy, off-road trails with 20+ military-esque obstacles – approximately every mile! Apparently there’s also a big ol’ mud pit at the finish. 🙂
Here are the deets:
When: Sunday, July 21, 2013 @ 8am
Where: Prince George’s Stadium (4101 Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20716)
This race also helps raise funds for Operation Gratitude, which is what especially made me excited about this race. Operation Gratitude is a very cool charity which sends personalized care packages to Service members deployed overseas. How great is that?!

I’m so bummed because I’d love to join in and do this race, but I’ll already be moved out to the west coast by then! Talk about timing, eh?
Which reminds me – I’m starting my half marathon training THIS week! My running shoes are getting a little lost in a sea of “To Do” lists and piles of stuff to get packed, but I’m looking forward to starting my training. I’ll share my training plan soon!
Time to get to work… Happy Monday!
Have you ever done an obstacle and/or mud race before? I haven’t, but they look so fun!
