FRIYAY.IMG_0552Lately, my concentration has been the pits. No focus. I’m honestly unsure where the hours are going. It’s like I just fly through each week. Before I know it, Mondays become Fridays become Mondays again.

I’m happy. Don’t get me wrong… like super happy.

Races and Girls on the Run (I’m on the board of directors for the local chapter here – have I mentioned that?) and crossfit and running and friends. All the happy.

But somehow it feels like I got onto a conveyor belt. Or one of those moving sidewalks… you know, like at the airport?

I’m talking career wise, here. I’m Type A bananas and that means I like plans and I’m always hungry for what’s around the corner. I love my current job and company, don’t get me wrong, but I like to have a long-term target, and goals for the grander picture.

I went for a walk last night before dinner and starting to think a little bit about all this. The tangle of to-do’s and could do’s and current vs. horizon.

My dad always told me while growing up that you need to have a fire in your belly. You have to have goals – BIG goals – that keep you pushing forward and reminding yourself who you are and where you want to go.

And recently I’ve been floating through…. preoccupied with the present. That’s probably a good thing, right? A GREAT thing. ‘Bout darn time. Yet still, I want a plan. I want to get my booty back to writing more frequently, and make good on that Huffington Post blogger gig (read my HuffPo piece here). And other stuff that I need to unravel in my heart. Fire in the belly, leeeeeet’s go.

But how do you hone in again? How do you recenter and look forward without losing track of the present too?

No, really – any tips?

Does anyone else feel ^^ this way too?

I’ll let you all know what I figure out….. and tthat concludes this pre-weekend ramble. 😉 I’m ready for some weekend goodness (including a doughnut).

Happy Friday! xo

Friday Things

I have some random biz to share with you guys because… you know. It’s pretty much the weekend. What else are we all doing?

  1. I used a flatiron (hair straightener) to iron my romper this morning. Think about that entire sentence……I’m an adult?
  2. I bought new running shoes this week and broke away from my beloved hot pink Nikes; I’ve been wearing the LunarGlide6 style for a year and have LOVED them, but they’re actually a teensy bit too narrow for my feet (blisters are fun). It’s fine – these new guys are bright mint.
  3. Pumpkin is officially back in my life…….. pumpkin waffles, pumpkin oatmeal. Just a PSA for you.
  4. OC friends, have you tried Grit Cycle yet? I’ve totally drunk the kool-aide. Pssst – went yesterday and heard this song and this song and am now obsessssssssssssssed.
  5. Scandal’s back.  YAS.
  6. Tomorrow I’m going to the Newport Beach Food and Wine Fest! Any OC folks wanna join?! The ticket price is a little scary, but it’s all inclusive (to my knowledge) and I have a sweet discount for $50 off for ya — MEDIA50

Happy Fri-YAY! Have a lovely one, friends. xo

Fri-YAY Favs

Hellllllo, lovelies!

This has been a pretty good lil week over here! How’s it been over in your neck of the woods? Maybe I’m just focusing on the positive, but I feel like the universe is finally showing me more roses instead of the thorns. 😉 Either way, wine is probably warranted.

Now, let’s get down to business with some FriYAY goodness.

1. New sneaks!sneaks

Four fresh miles Thursday morn in these badboys broke ’em in.

2. This,well and good pic

(First seen on Well and Good’s Faceook Page!)

3. Friends episodes streaming on Netflix.friends-tv-show

I just watched  the one with the Prom video, aka “SEE? He’s her lobster.” Gets me every time. 😉

4. Lunch at Haute Cakes.haute

I’ve professed my love for this cafe as one of my happy places, and lunch there this week with my mama was no exception. (P.s. I only ate part of it, but their gluten free English muffin is killin’ it… i had chicken salad on it!)

5. I’m now a board member for the Orange County chapter of Girls on the Run!gotr

I’ve been volunteering with them since I lived in D.C., and am SO excited to help grow this chapter!

And that’s it! Who’s ready for the weekend?!

What are you FriYAY-ing about today? Spread the happy!

Fri-YAY Favs

FriYAY. Friday. Holler. Lots of favs this week  and tough to pick just five….mainly becasue I’m still riding the Seattle trip wave, and basking in memories of eating the most delicious grilled cheese known to man.e2f51a76601e7c1fe48d1484d45fa978

Anyways, here’s what’s been keeping me smiling this week…

1. These flowers, that just scream SPRING.

…which continue to perk up my whole week and remind me that no matter what, there are happy things in this world.

2. 2

Me, 1000%.

3. I got to try out SoulCycle for the first time last night, and OMG. What a freakin’

My friend’s company was doing something with them, and she got to invite folks for a free class! I’ve been dying to try their classes and hadn’t because of the $$$. It was awesome!

4. This speaks to my heart, and I was happy to see it on my Insta feed 4

I will forever love Carrie Bradshaw and her obviously impeccable wisdom, but this in particular struck a chord with me this week.

5. I’m taking over The Eighty Twenty’s Instagram feed today! update-logo3

Be sure to give them a follow and say hi to me throughout the day! I’ll be sharing my Whole30/complete randomness, per usual.

Have a great weekend, loves! xo

What are you FriYAY-ing for today?

Fri-YAY Favs

Hey-o! Friday time again! I’m heading down to San Diego later today, soon as I finish up my work. I’ll prob squeeze in either a barre class or Body Pump first, depending… I had to skip my workout yesterday due to work/studying. I also have plans to buy some new running shoes, so I can start logging miles again. Wooooooooooop!

Anyways, let’s get to sharing some happiness, k?

1. I finished part one of my second Anatomy test last night! Thank heavens… we are rolling through this semester, people.

2. I’m going to Seattle in one week!

IMG_2679I get to see that gal (HI VAL!), and drink Starbucks in the land of its birth. Any must see’s (and must eat’s <–main priority)?

3. Tomorrow, I’m brunching with SD friends, as a little belated farewell celebration in honor of my move to Orange County full-time.

They’re the best. And I see pancakes in my future.

4. This.IMG_6428

Well I mean, it feels like summer here, and that’s good enough for me. Homegirl could use a tan (I mean, slathered in SPF-loaded sunscreen, of course). 😉

What are you FriYAY-ing about today? What made you extra happy this week?
