Fri-YAY Favs

It’s that time again! I’m so thankful it’s Friday. I have a ton of Anatomy studying to do, but Lordy- this work week was a hot mess. I know I’ve talked on the blog a teensy bit about my professional sitch (aka how frustrated I am with my current career/work life), but I mean it when I say these Friday favs – aka the little joys in my weeks/days – are keeping me sane and smiling.

And you can add great friends – near and far – to the below list (you guys too!).

Now, FriYAY-ing like whoa:

1. This line from Pitbull’s “Time of Our Lives” song. He’s so wise.

This for anybody going through tough times
Believe me, been there, done that
But everyday above ground is a great day, remember that

2. Anatomy class, because it is the bright, shiny light during my work week.

Even with (literally) one or more quizzes each class, because my day job gets a big thumbs down these days.

3. This incredible quote, which is on the side of trash can in Sessions Deli here in Newport Beach.IMG_6401

RIGHT? {And also Sessions’ sandwiches = amazing.}

4. Pasta from Mama D’s on the Newport Beach peninsula. IMG_6400

Soul soothing.

5. This view.IMG_6370

Doesn’t suck. You win, California.

Which reminds me, I took almost two full weeks off of running, and this view makes me want to get out there again.

Happy weekend! xo

What are you loving today/this week? Share your bright, shiny moments. 🙂

Fri-YAY Favs

Why this week felt so long I have no idea, but it did… Anyways, it’s the weekend (and Friday the 13th!), sooooo let’s kick up our heels and relax. It’s supposed to be almost 90 degrees here this weekend, so if you need me, I’ll probably be near the beach, thinking about how I just learned in Anatomy that getting a suntan is terrible for you. Ooops.

On to the favs today!

1. These flowers my dad gave me after Sunday’s half!

photo 2 (21)

Still going strong and looking gorgeous almost a week later. 😉

2. Tuckin’ my heart out!

I’m back at Pure Barre after barely going during half training, and I’ve gone every day since Tuesday!

3. This 1 (5)

4. Sunsets.

RIGHT? This is from Wednesday, but gooooolly, southern California sunsets are killin’ it on a regular basis.

5. Well, you know.

Fri-YAY Favs

Good morning!

So, today’s FriYAY favs are primarily race related. Sorry I’m not sorry. 😉 I’m visualizing myself crossing that finish line… and then shoving an ice cream cookie sandwich to my face.

Now, onto the favs…

1. I am done with my first (two-part) unit test in Anatomy!

It did not come at a convenient time in my schedule, but really – what does in life, right? You gotta roll with it.

2. All of the incredible people who donated to my fundraising efforts and put me OVER my goal of $1,310!

IMG_6196(From an email Crowdrise sent me.)

People are so wonderful.

3. I finished Serial’s first season! DYING.IMG_6205

I was so hoping for a more solid verdict in the finale! Can’t wait to hear season two…

4. Carbloading.

Serious face, and not afraid to admit it. It’s in the top five (top two?) reasons why I like long distance running. Don’t hate.

5. Counting down til SUNDAY.

I cannot wait to cross that finish line. Let’s gooooooooo!

What are you  loving today/this weekend?

Fri-YAY Favs

Could this weekend have taken a little bit longer to arrive?! Lord. Lots to be glad for today though!

e2f51a76601e7c1fe48d1484d45fa978{I totally just mentally pictured the high five emoji……….. I think that might be a sign of an unhealthy texting habit. Alas…}

SO, here’s what I’m all FriYAY-ing my little heart out about today…

1. This guy’s birthday is TOMORROW.nye{That photo is from New Year’s this year (clearly)……. and I promise he doesn’t always make that face.}

Party pants on and ready to help him ring in a whole new decade. 😉

2. This cinnamon swirl peanut butter, plus the other jars of yumminess that Peanut Butter and Co. generously dropped on my doorstep this week.

More on that soon…….. ps. I want to live inside this jar and eat my way out. Yeah, I said it.

But really, carb-loading starts now. 😉

4. Quizlet.

Not to be a complete nerd, but I’m prepping/taking what feels like a million tests and quizzes all at once right now (for just one class, mind you), and the app Quizlet is making my life a lot easier as I find myself trying to memorize types of cells on the go. Though I love  me some old fashioned paper notes, I really don’t have time to be drawing in-depth pictures of, say, connective tissue.

5. Kindness is the best.parking lot

I am always so struck when I come across people that are just incredibly kindhearted and selfless for people they hardly know or are complete strangers (as happened to me a couple times this week). It makes me so happy, and is a good self reminder to try and behave that way myself.

Time to hop on the celebration train. Happy weekend!

What are you looking forward to this weekend? What’s making today AWESOME?

Fri-YAY Favs

It’s Fri-YAY favorites time! TGIF, ya’ll.

I am already looking forward to laying on my sofa, wearing yoga pants, and watching a movie, because that is pretty much as wild as I feel like getting this weekend. And snuggling up with an anatomy book, obviously. Par-taaaaay.

Now let’s get straight to it…

1. Last long run of San Diego Half training = TOMORROW.

Hallelujah! Getting oh so close to that finish line.

2. This mug.

(via The Trendy Sparrow Etsy shop, but discovered via this blog)

I want it. Now, please.

3. Volunteering at Hope and Help tomorrow!

My hair stylist and her husband have put this event on for the last five years, serving the homeless ad providing essentials like food, water,  clothing, and toiletries. If you’re in the San Diego area, come stop by downtown starting at 10:30am to the Alpha Project nonprofit’s winter homeless village {1501 Newton Avenue}! I’ve been doing some behind the scenes pro-bono communications work for them this year, and am looking forward to seeing it come to fruition.

4. Clif Bars.clifbars

Not joking. These little suckers have become a go-to snack lately with all the running around I’ve been doing with class and driving between San Diego and Newport Beach and the LA area so much. Real foods are always preferable of course, but I’ve found myself especially crunched for time heading to class the past two weeks which starts smack at dinner time, and this type of bar is at least more nutritiously sound than, say, a fast food hamburger, if you ask me.

5.  All of the sweet folks who have donated and supported my fundraising efforts for the San Diego half marathon!

$515 raised so far, with two weeks to go! If you would like to contribute, just click here. ANY amount is significant and appreciated, and if we were in the same place and it wasn’t totally weird, I’d make you a stack of pancakes out of gratitude. 🙂

What are you doing this weekend?! Tell me something fun.
