It’s finally the weekend! I have big plans that involve acting like a tourist, eating copious amounts of food, and guzzling wine.
I know, I know.. You’re all saying, “Yeah? And? Isn’t that what you do every weekend?”
And you’d be pretty much right, but this time it’ll be to celebrate the fact that one of my very best friends from college is in town.
Say hi to Alexa.
If you can’t tell which one is her and which is me, that’s probably because we’re twins.
Here’s another, from my junior year of college.. just for giggles.
I’m a little excited that she’s here.
She’s visiting for the weekend and it’s her very first time in D.C., so obviously we have to do important things like sit on Honest Abe’s steps and drink wine by the Washington Monument. To tell you I’m planning on taking her to all of my favorite restaurants, too, should be obvious.
If you’ve known me for longer than 5 seconds, then you should already know I’ll make an excuse to celebrate anything, and I’m always down go for long walks around town, so I’d be in for touristy activities even if she’d been to the district 87 times before this.
Plus it’s going to be the coldest weekend we’ve had here in D.C. all winter thus far, so that should be excellent. Good thing Alexa is from Boston, which is 100,000 times colder.
You should know that Alexa and I originally bonded over a shared love of sarcasm, Pirate’s Booty, peanut butter, and M&Ms. Those are all not Paleo (except maybe sarcasm?). Not even a tiny bit. I plan on sticking with my Whole30 though – hang in there too, all my fellow Paleo-ers! Luckily I still have some leftovers in case I need a midnight snack tonight…
I’ll try to check in over the weekend, but I hope you all have a great next few days!
What are your weekend plans?? Where would YOU bring a friend who was visiting your city for the very first time?
